Developer/API Terms

Evaluation access is available under the non-commercial clauses below. A test key does not grant commercial use, redistribution rights or any right to rely on a future paid offer.

1. Scope and agreement

These Developer/API Terms govern access to the AbuDhabiSchools Developer REST API, MCP server, developer dashboard, documentation and related data services (the “Developer Services”). They supplement the general Terms of Service. If these Developer/API Terms conflict with the general terms for Developer Services, these terms control. “Customer” means the person or organisation that creates or uses developer credentials.

2. Evaluation and licensed plans

Test credentials beginning ads_test_ are licensed only for internal, non-commercial evaluation, prototyping and security testing. They may not be used in production or to serve end users. Live credentials beginning ads_live_ require an active paid plan, or a signed enterprise order, and grant only the commercial-use rights stated here and in the applicable order.

Consumer Pro is a separate one-time product. Purchasing Consumer Pro does not grant Developer Services, commercial, redistribution or API rights.

3. API licence

During an active licensed term, AbuDhabiSchools.com grants Customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to call the Developer Services and use returned data inside the registered Customer product for the agreed use case. Customer may display individual school facts and limited comparison results to its end users, subject to attribution, caching and source-specific controls.

No licence is granted to intellectual property owned by ADEK, Abu Dhabi government entities, schools or other data providers beyond rights AbuDhabiSchools.com is authorised to pass through. A field or endpoint may be withheld where those rights are uncertain.

4. AI and agent use

Customer may use the REST API or MCP server to ground an AI assistant or agent within its registered product. Customer remains responsible for the agent’s prompts, output, claims and end-user disclosures. Agent output must preserve material source, freshness and uncertainty information, must not imply that AbuDhabiSchools.com or ADEK made an admissions decision, and must not use the service to make fully automated high-impact decisions about a child without appropriate human review.

5. Attribution

Where school, fee or inspection data is displayed, Customer must provide clear attribution substantially in the form “Source: ADEK” and a link to the supplied source or AbuDhabiSchools profile where reasonably practical. The AbuDhabiSchools Score, rankings and other labelled derived measures must be attributed to AbuDhabiSchools.com and must not be described as official Irtiqaa ratings. Additional source-level attribution in the response is mandatory.

6. Caching and storage

Unless an enterprise order states otherwise, Customer may cache individual API responses for up to 30 days solely to operate its integration. Customer must refresh or delete cached data after that period and promptly correct data when AbuDhabiSchools.com supplies a material correction. Credentials, usage records and response logs must be protected with access controls appropriate to commercial data.

Customer may retain identifiers, request metadata and Customer-created analytics for longer where they do not reproduce a substantial part of the dataset and comply with applicable law. Source-specific fields may carry a shorter cache rule in the response or documentation; that rule controls.

7. Redistribution and derived products

Customer may show relevant records to end users as part of a broader property, relocation, mobility, education or AI product. Customer must not:

sell, sublicense, publish or provide the API, MCP tools or raw response feed as a stand-alone data product;
bulk-download, enumerate, mirror or reconstruct all or a substantial part of the AbuDhabiSchools database;
offer exports designed to substitute for an AbuDhabiSchools licence;
remove source, attribution, licence, freshness or data-quality fields;
combine data to evade plan, field-family, rate or quota controls; or
use the Developer Services to build a directly competing Abu Dhabi/UAE school directory or school-data API without a separate written licence.

Customer may create analysis and product features derived from permitted responses if the derived product does not reveal, reconstruct or permit extraction of a substantial part of the source dataset. Enterprise bulk exports and data redistribution require a signed order that states the permitted records, recipients, territory, retention and refresh obligations.

8. Credentials and security

Customer must keep API keys confidential, restrict them to server-side systems, use separate keys by environment or integration, and promptly rotate or revoke a key that may be exposed. Customer is responsible for activity under its keys. Keys must not be placed in public source code, URLs, browser bundles, mobile apps or client-accessible logs. Customer must notify hello@abudhabischools.com promptly of suspected compromise.

9. Rate limits, quotas and fair use

Each plan has monthly request-unit quotas and per-minute limits stated on the pricing page or order. Weighted endpoints may consume more than one unit. Customer must not bypass limits using multiple accounts, keys, IP addresses, MCP sessions or related organisations. AbuDhabiSchools.com may throttle or reject traffic that threatens platform stability, causes unusual output amplification or appears intended to extract the database.

10. Fees, subscriptions and taxes

Paid Developer plans are recurring monthly or annual subscriptions billed in advance through Stripe. Prices are in AED unless the order states otherwise and exclude applicable taxes. Annual subscriptions may be discounted. Customer authorises recurring charges until cancellation. Plan changes, proration, invoices, payment methods and cancellation are managed through the Stripe customer portal where available.

A subscription may enter a limited grace period after payment failure. Access may be reduced or suspended while an invoice remains unpaid. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period unless the order or law requires otherwise. Consumer Pro refund terms do not apply to Developer plans; any Developer refund right must be stated in the applicable order or mandatory law.

11. Changes to data and services

School data, source availability, field coverage, rankings, fees and regulatory records change. AbuDhabiSchools.com may add, correct, deprecate, restrict or remove fields and endpoints. Breaking response changes will ordinarily use a new version or reasonable deprecation notice, but a field may be removed sooner where required by law, a source owner, security or data rights. Customer must not rely on a field remaining permanently available.

12. Availability and support

Unless an enterprise order includes a service level agreement, the Developer Services are provided without an uptime guarantee. Planned maintenance, source outages, security incidents and third-party service failures may affect availability. Support targets describe operational goals, not guaranteed resolution times. Preview and evaluation features may change without notice.

13. Accuracy and appropriate use

AbuDhabiSchools.com works to normalise and maintain the data but does not warrant that every record is complete, current or error-free. Fees, availability, admissions, travel time and year-group eligibility must be verified with the relevant school. ADEK is the authority for Abu Dhabi regulatory and inspection data. The AbuDhabiSchools Score and rankings are independent analysis, not official ratings. The Developer Services must not be the sole basis for enrolment, employment, credit, insurance or other high-impact decisions.

14. Intellectual property and feedback

AbuDhabiSchools.com and its licensors retain rights in the service, API design, normalised models, identifiers, documentation, methodology, rankings, code and editorial material. Customer retains rights in its own application and independently created content. If Customer provides feedback, AbuDhabiSchools.com may use it without restriction or payment, without identifying Customer publicly.

15. Suspension

AbuDhabiSchools.com may immediately suspend or limit access for non-payment, credential compromise, threats to security or availability, unlawful use, source-rights requirements, breach of these terms, attempted database reconstruction or material risk to third parties. Where practical, AbuDhabiSchools.com will explain the reason and allow remediation. Suspension does not waive fees already due.

16. Confidentiality and data protection

Each party must protect non-public business, security and technical information received from the other and use it only for the relationship. Customer must not send personal information about children, special-category data or confidential school records in API queries or MCP prompts. Account, billing and usage data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Any required data processing terms must be agreed separately.

17. Term and termination

These terms apply while Customer has credentials or uses the Developer Services. Either party may terminate an evaluation at any time. A paid subscription continues until cancelled and then ends at the close of the paid period, unless suspended or terminated earlier for breach. On termination, Customer must stop calling the services, delete credentials and delete cached API data within 30 days unless law or a signed order requires a different period. Clauses concerning payment, confidentiality, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and surviving data restrictions continue.

18. Warranties and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability or accuracy. Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data. Subject to liabilities that cannot legally be limited, AbuDhabiSchools.com’s aggregate liability arising from Developer Services is limited to fees Customer paid for those services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

19. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and disputes are subject to the courts of Abu Dhabi, unless mandatory law requires otherwise. AbuDhabiSchools.com may update these terms for legal, source, security or product changes. Material changes will be notified through the dashboard, email or documentation where reasonably practical. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
