A school's current Irtiqaa rating tells you where it stands now. Its trajectory tells you whether the leadership knows how to fix problems. 95 of Abu Dhabi's 212 Irtiqaa-rated schools have moved up at least one rating band since their first inspection (data goes back to 2008). The ones that climbed two or more bands — without quietly cycling back — are some of the most well-managed schools in Abu Dhabi. The top 60 are listed below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does rating improvement matter when I'm choosing a school?

A school that has climbed from Acceptable to Very Good has demonstrated, through three or four independent Irtiqaa inspection cycles, that its leadership can identify weaknesses and fix them. That's a much stronger quality signal than a school that has been Outstanding for one cycle. Improvement is harder to fake than a single good rating.

How are bands counted?

ADEK's Irtiqaa bands run Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Weak, Very Weak. A school that went Acceptable → Very Good moved +2 bands. We exclude inspection cycles where ADEK marked the school as a "first inspection" — those aren't real ratings, just placeholders.

Can a school's rating go down again?

Yes, and it does — ADEK inspects regularly and isn't shy about lowering ratings. The schools listed here showed a positive net change between their first real rating and their most recent. Some moved up then sideways; some had a single big jump. The school's full year-by-year history is on its individual page.

How recent is this data?

The most recent Irtiqaa inspection cycle covered in this dataset is 2024-25. Irtiqaa inspections resume in the 2026-27 academic year, and newer cycles will be incorporated as ADEK publishes them.
